I will be taking a look at curriculum over the course of a semester. Hopefully I will learn some great things that I can actually use in my own classroom.
A good teacher I had showed us how practical algebra is in daily life by showing us how it can be used in construction (our own home, etc). Perhaps you could have them design a structure, room etc, using online resources or create one on their own and see how they use what you have taught. I would model an example first.
